New this year to me

by Gregory Snow on Aug.14, 2009, under My Thoughts

Lately there have been several endeavors I have been working on:

I have joined the mentoring program at work to attempt to enhance my professionalism at work and in my day to day life.  This is going extremely well and I am learning about many different areas of the firm and about different ways we do business with our clients.  I have been particularly interested in areas such as project management and personal growth.

Apparently i have a tendency of making excuses when I fall short of achieving my goals these days.  As far as I can see there work to be done here and I should be spending more time working and less time making up excuses…

Getting out of this Mess

by Gregory Snow on Mar.14, 2009, under My Thoughts

Over the past 18 months I have been throwing around the idea of a recession and in fact have spend a lot of time talking about my own personal spending situation with my friends and family.  Now we all know that the recession is upon us but the main question is how we are going to get out of it and how the financial landscape will look when our head is above the water.
I think were close to a turn around because Bush has been out office for two months!!
Actually I would place more confidence on those people who have lost their jobs due to layoffs over the past few months.  Actually they have a great possibility of reviving the economy because many of them have taken their employment situation into their own hands and become entrepreneurs themselves and will start to produce innovation products and services which will be the great hope we have all been waiting for.  There is no question in my mind we need kick start their creative and imaginative minds so they will invent and sell and thus become a new economic engine in this economy.  They say a rising tide lifts all boats and I hope that when those around us do well then we will too.

25 things you might not know about me:

by Gregory Snow on Feb.02, 2009, under My Thoughts

25 things you might not know about me:

1. I have 3 Mothers which include my birth mother, step mother and past employer who provide me with much valued advice and fostered my personality, work ethic and provided me with priceless advice and gave me many reasons to look for options beyond Vermont.
2. I am in a relationship with the most exciting and wonderful person I have ever known. I don’t usually fill the internet in on my personal experiences however I’ll let you in on a little secret. I love him. He is the most influential person I have ever met and he has pushed me in ways that I needed to improve in. While the time we spend together is fantastic and I cannot stop thinking about ways to please him we have a huge challenge to overcome and unfortunately I am powerless to control it.

6. After living with my mother exclusively for 18 years I changed schools my senior year of high school and thrust myself into a whole new situation in Vermont and realized what I was doing wrong from that point in my life.
7. I am a strong believer that as Americans we should do our best to purchase products and services which are produced by Americans. This gives jobs to and creates wealth for Americans which if everyone follows this rule will come around and benefit us all.
8. When I was 18 years old I changed my last name.
9. I am a republican at heart. I believe in low taxes, a focus on the family (however not necessarily the traditional one) and a small government that should stay out of our lives.
10. I absolutely love trains.. Any kind from the ones that move people to freight.
11. While I work in information technology I am very bad with digital electronics varying from TVS to DVD Players.
12. I failed hand writing in first grade

14. I am very shy to tell my family and friends about a recent purchase I made.
15. I worked every summer from 1996 – 2004 at a boarding kennel in Vermont. We would care for more than 100 dogs during the busy summer.
16. When I was living with my dad and step mother we i lived with 10 dogs and participated in several dog shows with them.

2009

by Gregory Snow on Jan.15, 2009, under My Thoughts

Its 2009 and I’d say its time we started looking forward to a new beginning.  If you’ve listened to President Bush’s good by address you may have felt a tear come to your eye.. just for a minute though.  You know there is a new leader in town and things are going to change.  The past 8 years have been anything but proud for America but I think people will look back at Uncle Bush for his misfortunate deciciveness which I believe has cost us much money and time.

Prop me down

by Gregory Snow on Nov.12, 2008, under My Thoughts

In the seven years after 2001 the united states has been involved in a global war on terrorism which has tested the will of every American who has a conscience and in most cases a brain.  We have seen  escalated violence, hate, crime on our television screens and in our cities and towns.  We are never free of this behavior and i believe in times like these we have no right to interferer with those who find love and want to grow it.  Lets face the fact that there is a great lack of love and compassion between individuals in the world today and I believe it is our moral responsibility to do something to support those who love each other, no matter what the circumstances are and no mater what walk of life they are in.

Election season

by Gregory Snow on Nov.02, 2008, under My Thoughts

Please don’t forget to vote this year because its an important one.  As I’ve mentioned before in this place i believe this is an important time in the history of the world and this stems from from issues we’ve been dealing with for the last 8 years as well as the financial crisis realized recently and has been developing over that last 4 years.  We don’t need politics as usual or someone to complain about the problems and offer few solutions or help to fix them. Here is the place and there has never been a better time.   Two leaders have emerged and recognize the problems at hand the question in my mind is which one of them is more in touch with average Americans, which one is able to see whats in the interest of the common man and not what will benefit the man at the top of the heap.

-Looking for a better world,

Greg

Slow and steady wins the race

by Gregory Snow on Sep.21, 2008, under My Thoughts

There has been some talk where I work about 401Ks and the deprecated value of them after this last week. I guess now I am feeling good that I did not start one and invest money in an entity that ran wild on concoction of sub-prime mortgages and other bad loans. Many people now are kicking themselves for riding the light too far and not taking modest steps to ensure financial security.
As we go ahead we should remember to take account of our modest gains and appreciate them for what they are.

Where to fly from here?

by Gregory Snow on Aug.09, 2008, under My Thoughts

Today is August 9th and this are looking better from now on. While global politics and the war or terror are still worrisome I have been caught up in the “message of hope”. I believe things are getting better for me and for the world and this will start with a new US president. I really believe that things should be getting better, not worse, it’s the 21 century and its time for the leaders of the free world and the free media to stop making the masses afraid of terror or this economy.

If you are wondering where i am over the next week, I will be on vacation, to NY, VT and probably the cape. So look to the fall for some changes and encouraging news.
